By the time the suns rose over the Planet Blue there was a change in the air. Sarah and Sam woke up to find the dark area where the castle was had now changed. There was very little dark left. The dark forest had become a forest of light like all the others. The only dark left was the castle itself which remained a dark reminder of what had been for centuries and what would always be. The dark clouds were gone too there was suns everywhere. It was a happy day indeed.
“Look at that Sarah! Look at all that blue skies. I can not believe we did it. The evil is gone, the curse is broken from that part of the land. This truly is a Blue Planet indeed!” Sam said excited to his sister. Sarah smiled big right back at him.
The morning was spent having breakfast with the family. Grandpa, Grandma, Sam, Sarah and Sally all ate big heaping piles of food not even thinking twice about it. They had a nice big day planned. They had talked about it the night before.
“So your majesties we are going to stay here for just a few bit longer. If you do not mind we will be staying in the palace for a few days. We want to show Grandma and Sally the things we learned and have some fun before we go home. I do not know when we will be back. But at least me and Sarah will be back to visit soon.” Sam said smiling big.
The King and Queen approved and the group planned their day. Taking sandwiches from the kitchen they made a lunch of food for the day and began their journey. Sir P. had brought over his friend Sir Alex another Pegasus. He was a larger horse and he seemed to be able to fit more than two people. So Grandpa and Grandma went on him. While Sally, Sarah and Sam road on Sir P as always. Off the group went.
First they explored the land piece by piece. Going from the top of the mountains to the bottom. Not even Sam and Sarah had seen ALL the land like this. Sir P and Sir Alex dipped and twirled the group through the sky and showed them parts they had yet to explore. Where creatures lived they had never seen.
Then Sir P took everyone to the Fairy Forest in the sky. Sir Alex climbed high too. Not even Grandpa had seen some of these things this was his first time up there. Sally had never dared to ask. So Sarah and Sam became their guide for all things. It was so much fun.
“Here is Winged Forest . It floats high in the sky and few know where to find it. It is where the pixies and fairies dwell when they are not out and about on Planet Blue.” Sarah said proudly. It was her favorite place to go.
They visited the Mermaids lake and this time actually hung out with mermaids. Sam and Sarah even got in the water and swam with them a little. Laughing and having fun. Grandpa and Grandma were just taking it all in. Sally was trying to get comfortable with all these things. She had spent her whole life or what she thought was her whole life in that village running that store. Now knowing these beautiful kids were hers was a bit overwhelming but they were great kids. She could tell the moment they walked in the doors of the store just a couple of weeks ago.
At the end of the day the group went back to the castle and had a great meal in the castle with the royal family it had a been a fun day indeed.
The next day when the suns were high in the sky the family once again gathered together lunch and their stuff to go out and do some more exploring. They had promised just three days out here and this was the second one.
Today they went to the forest where the fish were in the lake. Everyone wanted to try out a fish so they took turns trying out a fish each.
“Which fish do you want to pick?” Sam asked Sarah. She shrugged. She felt no need for wishes for love for time. She just wanted to chat with them. So she chatted instead when it came to her turn. Everyone else had fun with their fish chatting or making wishes. It was a lovely day.
Then they visited the forest of time where the time stood still. Everyone loved this one. First Grandpa went in and watched his watch stop ticking. Everyone outside was moving but he could not see them all frozen like that. It had been ten minutes and he had no clue at all for him time had stood still. He came out when they grabbed him and told him it was someone else’s turn.
Grandma who had only been to Planet Blue one other time loved the forest. They really had to work to get her out of there to leave with them. It was so much fun. She laughed as they pulled her out. “It has been almost a half hours Grandma why are you still in there? Come out silly!” Sarah was giggling and laughing so hard she could hardly stand.
Sam stood and waited his turn in the forest. He had done it before but it was different with a group of so many people. So he just stood there smiling at them and waving and they could not see anything more than he could. For he stood still like they stood still.
“Were you doing anything? We could just see you standing there! It is so funny I love this forest!” Sam laughed “I was waving at you but I guess you did not see me. You guys always look frozen so its like the opposite I guess of what we see is the thing the other sees too. Too funny!” Sam laughed some more and pushed Sarah to let her have her turn.
Sarah stood there and just tried to see things she had never seen. Things stood still time did. But did the nature things stand still too. She stood staring at the trees wondering if leaves were going to not fall or bugs were not going to crawl. She realized that things went on like normal around her. For the first time she realized that the leaves fell, the bugs crawled, and all was normal but time itself was not. “How strange!” She whispered in ah of what she had just discovered. She could not wait to tell Sam what she had figured out. He was smiling when it was not her turn anymore.
Sally looked especially scared about the forest. No one asked her why. But like everyone else she spent ten minutes in there trying to enjoy herself. She had heard the stories of staying there too long and disappearing. She did not want to disappear not when she found her family and her kids especially. Sam and Sarah needed her. So she did not do much but stand there waiting for her time to be over. She was glad when they told her it was time to go.
Sam and Sarah recalled they had those wings they had yet to try out that the fairies had given them. So they decided next day before anything else to try them out jumping off the castle.
“Lets do it before anyone gets up. It could be fun. I am a bit scared of heights but I think we could do it over the water and it should not be a bad thing at all.” Sarah said smiling at her brother.
While everyone slept in that last fine day the twins got up and took out their wings. They went to the top part of the castle climbing carefully on the roof. Sam was not afraid of heights like Sarah but he was a bit scared it was really high up. He pulled Sarah up and the two of them scampered up the top part of the tower.
“I think we should hold hands and do this together.” Sam said and Sarah agreed smiling at her brother. “Yes let us do it together I do not want to do this alone.”
Standing together and holding hands with wings on and aiming for over the water below the castle Sam and Sarah counted to three and jumped.
At first they were falling farther and farther but the wind caught hold of the wings and they began to sore. They flapped their wings and went higher. Holding hands tightly they soared farther and farther down and then flapped their wings and went up. Sarah squealed with delight. She was having so much fun. Sam laughed he loved it too. Finally they landed quietly on the grass area below.
“Can we do it again Sam? Can we?” Sarah was already trying to climb back up the stairs to go again. Sam followed her. “Okay. Just one more time. You ready?” Sam shouted.
This time they soared higher then last time floating and soaring all at once. Flapping their wings they let go of each others hands and decided to try things on their own. Sam was being more daring then Sarah as he did flips in the air and then soared up again. Sarah just floated and went up and down higher and lower. They stayed in the air longer this time having so much fun. Finally they decided to stop they were getting tired.
“Let us go back to bed and pretend to be asleep.” Sarah said laughing. Sam agreed. “But first lets get in the water and cool off. I am so warm from all that flying!” Sam said. The two peeled out of their clothes and dipped in the water for a few minutes. Feeling much better then dried off and put their clothes back on. By the time they got to bed everyone was still sleep and no one noticed them gone.
A few hours later everyone got up and Sam and Sarah almost forgot about their little adventure. It had been so much fun flying like that. They both thought it was a dream till they realized they were still a bit wet and the wings were still drying outside when they checked. “Cool!” They said together.
On this last day they decided to go to the village. Sally wanted to see who had won her store and give the town a proper good bye not a rushed one. She did have friends there. Then they would go home early the next day. So they planned their day like that.
Sir P and Sir Alex were ready for one last trip around. Miss P had been nice enough to come along this time bringing along their three kids. The three baby Pegasus had grown a lot since Sam and Sarah had last seen them. They all liked to eat grapes and smiled at them with small teeth barely grown in. What a sight to see. Five humans and Six Pegasus flying through the sky towards the town.
They landed just outside. The kids came out and saw them and were very excited to see Sir P and his family. And meet Sir Alex. Alex was like a back up to Sir P and helped out as a guide to the Secret Door travelers. So he knew the kids and town well himself. He usually hung out in the fields outside the town waiting to be called if Sir P could not come. It was rare for more than a few visitors to come from one door and then more come from another door. They did not usually find their way at the same time.
Once in the village Sally led the way through the town. That is when they noticed the building going on. They were adding to the village. On the side where there was a clear area with no houses at all they were building. Several houses already built and shops. There was more shops open too. Everything seemed more happy and cheerful. No one had any idea what was going on. So they decided to ask someone.
Sally was the most known in the town so she went up to her friend Patty who was standing on the corner selling flowers. “Patty. What is going on? Why are they building? Why are there more shops? I have only been gone a few weeks…” Sally looked confused and almost upset. Patty smiled at her friend and paused before speaking.
“Well you would not believe it. We figured out after all you told us that it was the Evil Wizard keeping us down to our small numbers. The moment he was captured and we knew we started building homes and opening shops. Because we knew we could start growing again. People can have kids no fear of a plague that never existed hurting them. Already several people are pregnant. We have people wanting to move in to the buildings. We expect visitors might come stay. We are trying to be prepared. People are happy again so we opened more shops so people can buy stuff again. It has changed so much. Your shop is being run now by Hank. Remember him? He used to run the bakery over there but he gave it to his son when he retired. Well he loved your shop so much I bet you could go and talk to him now he is in now not on his break or anything.” Patty hugged Sally. “It is so good to see you though. We really miss your happy face around here. I am glad you are going to go home with your kids. These are them huh? What are your names again?” Patty turned to Sam and Sarah who were listening in and looking around.
“My name is Sam and this is my twin sister Sarah.” Sarah smiled and shook Pattys hand “nice to meet you.” Patty turned back to Sally and then looked at the twins again. “I can see that you do look a lot like your mother.” Sam and Sarah smiled at her. “Well have fun guys. If you want anything just ask everyone is so excited and happy about what you all did that they will probably give you something free today!”
Sally led the way to her shop. It looked exactly the same. Not even the name was changed. They went inside and Hank was standing by the register. He was an older guy with lots of flowing gray hair and a beard. He smiled at them when he saw who it was. “Sally! You have not left yet? Wow. So good to see you again. I have kept your shop just as you had it. Nothing has changed. It is all the same except I run it now.” Sally gave Hank a hug. Hank smiled and met the family Grandpa, Grandma, Sarah and Sam. Then they gave a tour to their grandparents of the shop the three floors plus the bedroom.
When they were done it was time to go home. It was getting dark they had spent the whole day in the town and their last day here was over.
The next day as the suns rose in the sky the family had their last meal with the royal family. Before they went the kids gave Sam and Sarah a hug good bye and they were crying. Sam and Sarah said to them “We will come back and visit I promise. Do not worry about it.”
Climbing on Sir P and Sir Alex the family waved good bye to the castle and the village as they flew over. They took their time flying to the door to take them home. Before going Sarah and Sam gave Sir P especially a hug good bye trying to not cry. “We will come back I promise. Soon.” Sarah said sniffing. Sam was a boy and he was tough so he did not cry but he did hug the Pegasus good bye too and then gave Sarah a side hug to help her feel better.
The door came open easily as they climbed through. Sally was the last to climb through. Before she did she was nervous she took one more last look around The Blue Planet and prepared herself for going home best she could.
At first there was no change in Sally. She remembered very little of her life here in the first place so she recalled nothing at all. However the next day when she woke up in the bed by the twins she remembered it all. And she started to cry. She recalled the day she left her husband. She recalled the birth of the twins and how happy they had been. She recalled her teaching job and her life here. She recalled her parents and suddenly wanted to know if they were still alive. She had to ask someone. She recalled it all.
By the time Sam and Sarah had gotten up their mother was crying into a tissue. Sam and Sarah got on either side of her to ask what was wrong. She looked at them one by one touching their heads and whispering “I remember it all…” and that is all Sally said to them.
They spent the rest of the day showing her photo albums and telling her stories. Of all they had done their lives. Their mother who had died in the fire and all about their dad. She recalled for them things they never knew about life before them. Her love for kids and wanting some so badly. How it was hard having twins so young and she did not mean to leave them. She was sad because she had missed so much. They were half way to being teens and here she was just now in their lives at last. She cried some more.
Over the next few days while the kids went to school Sally learned about all kinds of things. She learned her parents were still alive. She wanted to visit them. They thought their daughter was dead. As her husband had declared it. They had even had a funeral for her even if there was no body. She was declared dead and missing. So it would be a shock.
Grandpa and Grandma arranged a meeting with them and told them that their daughter was at the house they could come and see her. They had not seen the twins in a long time. So when Sam and Sarah got home they saw them they were very excited and hugged them both.
“Look at you two. I can not believe how big you are. Such a beautiful set of twins. I am so glad you are doing alright. We want to be a part of your lives too now much as we can. I am sorry for your loss with your father and mother. Now where is our Sally?” Their new Grandma smiled at them both and waited. Sally came around the corner looking nervous and excited same time. She ran and gave them both a hug and started crying again. Sam elbowed Sarah and whispered “now I can see where you get that crying all the time thing from. Is it a girl thing?” Sarah glared at Sam but just watched the happy reunion.
It took a few weeks but Sally was able to get a job teaching. She continued to live in the house with Sam and Sarah with their grandparents. She was welcome to stay and so they were too as they were really the legal guardians. In order for Sally to have them alone she would have to go through a big court thing and she was not ready for that yet.
On the weekends Sarah and Sam continued to visit The Blue Planet. They only went for a few minutes here and there. Sir P had decided their first trip back to show them something. He flew them over to a building in town. It looked new but Sir P said it was a new building but the room itself was old as the planet itself.
“Here is something I forgot to show you when your family was with you. You will enjoy it a lot. It is a room that tells us where every secret door is on your planet. It has a record of who has come and gone here. It tells us everything from how long they stayed, to what they did, who they brought with them. There is a big section in this one book here. It is divided per door. Believe it or not on your planet there are 100 hidden secret doors. Now some are rarely if ever used we figure those were back when they had those doors and buildings got taken down. So those doors do not work. We have at least 75 working doors on your planet all over your world. You guys were our second set of visitors this year alone. We average two sets of doors being used per year. And we average 1 in 10 visitors staying here for good. Look around and have some fun.” Sir P let the kids in the large room.
A map was on the wall showing all the places for doors. They had one for their place it did not show exact location unless you looked in their book. The book for their door had all the information about Grandpas first visit, Dads and theirs. And all the things that happened. The details were great so much they did not know. They spent time in there.
One sunny day a few weeks later Sam and Sarah brought Grandpa, Grandma and Sally back to the Blue Planet for a full day visit. Everyone was excited to see how things had changed two months since they had last been there.
The town had blossomed there were new children. Things had changed, life had changed. It was brighter. The Evil Wizard had continued to be imprisoned. The dragon of his had not been seen since that night but he was alive somewhere in the forest. Life had gone on for Planet Blue and things were looking up for everyone around them.
Sam and Sarah smiled at each other. They had changed so much. It had been six months since they lost their parents in a fire. But they had their mom now and that helped. They missed their parents a lot but it helped having so many people around them to love them and take care of them. And a planet through a secret door that they could visit anytime they wanted.
The End.
